An Ordinary Day.

By 9:30am yesterday, I was hatching a plan to take a bus down to Atlantic City to meet up w/ Jay & Kayte to see my first Phish show. I'm not the biggest fan but, since so many others are I thought it might be worth it to make the effort this time. I told Jay that I would be in touch after work once I had a better sense of how to make the trip and how much it would cost. The rest of my work day was pretty low key. I left a few minutes early and headed home. I quickly realized how tired the week had made me. I made some dinner, responded to some emails and ended up in bed by 9:45p. I decided it wasn't the weekend to head to AC, as much as I wanted to.

I woke up early this morning, skipped my shower, bought a coffee (the barista finally gave me a frequent flyer card) and then walked to Target. I ended up with paper towels, nail polish, a tooth brush and a box of pasta. Next I headed to Victoria's Secret to try on bathing suits. No luck. Then I decided to walk to a spot much further down on Atlantic Ave which took a good 40 minutes to get to. I window shopped for a bit and tried to recall all the places that Molly, Alex and I had gone to during past visits. The long walk really helped orient me. Now I realize where Boerum Hill is relative to 4th Ave and Atlantic. It's all making sense. I walked and walked...taking a moment in front of the apartment on Smith Street that I almost rented. They replaced the door-it's much nicer now but, still...a 4th floor walk up on a super busy street. I grabbed a Vitamin Water and walked the 40 minutes back to Park Slope and continued to wander until my Birkenstocks started to hurt my feet. Eventually, I arrived home empty handed--which was kind of a good feeling. I decided it was a good night to cook. It's been awhile. So, I went out for the last time today and picked up some items for dinner. I'm heading to the kitchen next.

I didn't go to Atlantic City. I didn't meet someone new. I didn't go to a museum. I didn't even get on the subway.

There's so much to do in this city. Sometimes it's hard to take some time for yourself to slow down and decompress. Today was just coffee and a really, really long walk. It was exactly what I needed.

Oh...this time next week Hannah Wall will be married to Richard Witting. Woot, woot! Happy times ahead.

Summer in the city...

Just a quick post to share some pics from the last few days. Molly came to NY for a week and Isaac was in town to drop off Greg's prints. Between the two of them I got to run around the city like the tourist that I still am...eating, drinking, seeing and doing. I've got lots to write about when I have more energy. For now...I'm going to turn everything off and go to sleep.

Memorial Day: Part 2

Crooked Path is open for the 2012 season! Jenny, Jonathan and I got a long list of things accomplished over Memorial Day weekend this year and left feeling excited about our next visit in July when the whole family will be together! Here are a few pictures of the opening...

Memorial Day: Part 1

Last weekend was my first visit to VT since the big move to NYC. The weather was perfect for an impromptu hike up Mt. Mansfield. My calves took a few days to recover but, the view and QT with some of my besties was well worth the work! Thanks (again) for the great photos Isaac!
