Thanks.

Just a quick note to thank you for visiting The Creme Dujour. I'm closing up shop on Blogger and moving to a new home/host/address that's better suited to handle the content I want to post. See you soon.

Blogger.

I'm so over Blogger's formatting. Time to switch it up but, where should I go? Maybe wordpress? I'll keep you posted.

Beacon, NY

No photos allowed inside The Dia. Eh, I took some anyway. The train ticket for the 80min trip and entry into The Dia costs $33.50. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon! After our visit to The Dia, we found lots of cute little shops on Main Street...my favorite being Clay, Wood and Cotton. They have screen printed tea towels, things made from yarn that have eyes, uneven pottery and lots of little prints. Nice. And just we thought we were at the end of Main Street we found The Roundhouse. We grabbed a bite there and enjoyed the falls. This sleepy little art community has lots going on their mile long Main Street strip. There are a bunch of galleries. Some are better than others and some that just weren't open. Boo. Next time!

Oh, Vermont.

You're SO FINE! It was an awesome weekend to head north. I don't know how it worked out so perfectly but, I managed to hit up a few baby showers, a few parties, a few new-ish Burlington restaurants (umm...BBQ Poutine?) and found time for a few quick catch-ups along the way. Oh and thank you Dottie Clover for my new jewelry. Good times y'all.

This view doesn't get old...except when it's 7 degrees out.
Ragin' with the 1 year olds. Party for Bea Hana!
Given.
Sage, Kat and I at Sage's baby shower! I know, my scarf makes me look like a girl scout. Shut it.
What 'Baby Rucchi' will be sporting. World, get ready for this kid.

V-Day.

Another Valentines Day come and gone! This year, Kayte threw a party at one of her favorite spots in the E. Village. At around 3pm on the day of the party, the bar called Kayte to let her know that a weekly comedy show needed to use the space they had promised Kayte from about 9:15pm-10:30pm that evening. Initially, we thought it was going to be a bummer to temporarily move the party to a different room but, then the management decided to give our group 50% off during the party. "Ok. We'll stay." We also ended up sticking around to see the funny men during the comedy hour who got better as their line up progressed. The first person tried to make a fart joke with a broken iphone...awkward silences make me anxious. In the end, it was an awesome crowd and lots of laughs were had over the Kayte's decorations and name tags! She is the most lovable pervert. xo
Kayte decided against her first outfit option. I don't know why.

Oh My Rockness.

Music. There is so much going on in the area. I kept missing all the good shows until a friend of mine directed me to a great site. http://www.ohmyrockness.com/index.cfm
They just seem to have everything (excluding the BIG shows at Barclays, MSG, etc -  you can get on Ticketmaster's list for those). Also, you can essentially filter to what's happening this weekend, what's free, what's the most popular, etc. They have a weekly email too. If you register with their site, you can click on artists or shows that you like and get an email reminder when that artist is coming back into town - perfect for when you can't make a show that's coming up.

This festival is going to be good too. Weee!!!

The Year of the Snake.

For now, I'm simply grateful for the life I'm living. For all of the challenges, gifts, failures, victories and most importantly for the perspective that each experience provides. I'm looking and learning a little each day.  Sometimes, the lessons are larger and linger a while longer. Sometimes, it's a process that requires patience with your friends, your family and often times, yourself. That's life. This has been one of the most challenging years of my life as well as the most rewarding. I've heard people say that to really live, you need to face a fear each day. I haven't really done that exactly but, there was a time when I traveled 28 stops to the end of the L train to "no-where-ville" Brooklyn to pick up a UPS package in the dark. That must count twice, right? Scary shit. I love NYC for pushing me even when I don't want to be pushed. It's not the perfect romance. My subway station still smells like pee. Sometimes the subway doors close right in front of my face and I miss the train. Sometimes someone pulls the emergency break and I get re-routed on 5 different trains during my morning commute. Sometimes I have to buy groceries--including paper towels this time. SUCK-festival,  2013.

But, it's all worth it.
