LOVE.

This pic from Garance Doré just feels so light! Maybe spring calls for a little faded denim and a white suit...and some new specs!

November: Gray and Yellow.

I was looking for some inspiration earlier this week. I ended up spending some time getting to know the colors gray and yellow. I've decided to explore 1 color (or color combination) per month just to keep things fresh. Here are some of the pics that I gravitated towards.

The color yellow exudes brightness, light, vitality, energy and optimism. Gray is a neutral, cool and conservative color that seldom evokes strong emotion--although it can be seen as a cloudy or moody color. Together, they are the perfect balance.

"Sometimes beautiful is enough."

They are just clothes...things. Sometimes those things can create a feeling too-how you feel in them, or in this case, how you feel when you look at them. I’m inspired! It’s not likely that I’ll own any of these pieces but, I might try really hard to find a dress with a giant bow on the front that sways in the wind and feels great on my legs! Summer, I can see the tiniest little bit of you peeking around the corner!

Blanco

Spanish fashion label Blanco, after successful Fall 2009 campaign, released a Winter 2009 campaign featuring models Siri Tollerod (my fave!) and Andre Ziehe. Some fun pieces! Check out their Look Book for Winter, 2009. Mmmhmm...

Pajama-esque, polka dots & pirate chic...long live Consuelo Castiglioni!

Over the weekend, I saw a pair of shoes that I absolutely loved. Here they are. I’ll never own anything like them because, I could buy a pretty nice used car for the same price! Buying them would be just plain silly. Even if I did manage to get my hands on them, I would tip over in 10 steps or less. But, wow they are hot, hot, hot.
I later found out that the shoes were designed by Marni. Yesterday, as the rain came pouring down, I sipped my coffee and took a look at Marni’s 2010 Spring Collection. At first, I was a tiny bit unsure of the crazy mixed patterns, sequins details, cropped vertical stripped leggings and subdued colors. Is it too much or not enough?
Then, I looked at the collection all together and decided, wow. I love it! It so charming and easy. I’m sort of amazed that I like these pieces since some of them have very little structure. That’s the appeal. It’s nonchalant but, entirely sophisticated.
I guess I should be grateful I don't have these clothes. If I did, I would have to iron everyday. And we haven't even started to discuss the dry cleaning bill...My cotton shirt and I are off to lunch! Hmph.

“Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” -Coco Channel

Fashion...smashion, right? Well, I guess the quote above sort of resonates with me.

Here are a couple of women that project an amazing personal essence and sense of style. The clothes and accessories they're wearing appear to be fairly basic, although they might have been a pretty penny at retail. Denim and cotton make an appearance, accompanied by summer plaids and some items in essential black, grey, and white. Those details make each outfit look super comfy and totally wearable.

Style can be defined as having an elegance, a sophistication, a distinct appearance or a unique manner of doing something. I pulled each of these images because a.) I like the outfits and how subtle their lines are AND b.) because I like how the women look like they feel on the inside, (OK- that one below in the leather jacket has amazing hair).

In a couple of these images, the outfits take a back seat to an expression. That is refreshing to see on a fashion blog and something I like seeing promoted. Aspire to be positive and confident in yourself. If you are, it will show. Those qualities will always be fashionable.

These images were pulled straight from fashion blogs so, there is a chance that these women are just really great actresses. They may be on their way home to continue life as The Devil but, who cares! They are fun to look at and they certainly provide a bit of inspiration.
